Christian Beliefs

Meet Pastor Matt and Teresa Hinshaw

Harrodsburg First United Methodist Church is in the community of faith with the common heritage of both historical and organizational descendants of The Evangelical United Brethren Church. A union, in 1968, began the formation of The Methodist Church, which was significant because it was created from the merger of three (3) separate communities of faith:

  1. the Methodist Episcopal Church
  2. the Methodist Episcopal Church, South
  3. the Methodist Protestant Church (Major United Methodist Beliefs, Revised and Enlarged, Mack B.Stokes, 1987, p9.)

Therefore, we have incorporated these beliefs of the following doctrines of The United Methodist Church:

We believe in God

the Bible

Jesus Christ

The Holy Spirit

in Man

in the Cross

in the Forgiveness of Sins

in Victory Through Disciplined Living

in the Centrality of Love

in the Conversion, Assurance, and Christian Perfection

in the Church

in the Kingdom of God

and in The Life Everlasting

(Taken from Major United Methodist Beliefs, Revised and Enlarged, Mack B.Stokes, 1987, TOC.)
